Camp Focus:  Skill Work, Fun, and Educational Moments

Monday's Focus:  Introduction and Fundamentals

​

  • 8:45-9:00 AM: Check-in and Registration  

​

  • 9:00-9:30 AM: Welcome, Introduction, and Camp Overview

    • Introduction of coaches

    • Camp rules and expectations

    • Warm-up and stretching (dynamic stretches)

​

  • 9:30-10:00 AM:  Skill Assessment and Group Assignment

    • Dribbling, passing, shooting drills

    • Evaluation of skill levels

    • Divide into four groups

​

  • 10:00-11:00 AM:  Station Work (15 minutes per station, rotate)

    • Station 1: Ball Handling Drills 

      • Cone Dribbling: Navigate cones with both hands.

      • Two-Ball Dribbling: Use two basketballs simultaneously.

    • Station 2: Shooting Form and Technique

      • Form Shooting: Focus on proper shooting mechanics.

      • Spot Shooting: Shoot from designated spots on the floor.

    • Station 3: Passing and Receiving

      • Partner Passing: Chest pass, bounce pass, overhead pass.

      • Passing on the Move: Pass while running to a moving target.

    • Station 4: Defensive Footwork

      • Slide Drills: Defensive slides along the court.

      • Closeout Drills: Proper technique to close out on shooters.

 

  • 11:00-11:10 AM: Water Break

  • 11:10 AM-12:00 PM: Team Drills and Mini-Games

    • Fast Break Drills: Simulate 3-on-2, 2-on-1 fast breaks.

    • Defensive Positioning: Teach defensive stances and positioning.

    • Shooting Games: Knockout, 21, Around the World.

  • 12:00-12:10 PM:  Water Break

​

  • 12:10-1:00 PM:  Skills Focus: Point Guard Essentials

    • Court Vision Exercises: 

      • Partner Passing: Focus on peripheral vision.

      • No-Look Passing: Improve deception.

    • Pick and Roll Scenarios:

      • Pick and Roll Basics: Setting and using screens.

      • Pick and Pop: Shooting after setting a screen.

    •  Decision Making Under Pressure:

      • 1-on-2 Drills: Navigate through two defenders.

      • Time Management: Simulate end-of-game scenarios.

  • 1:00-2:00 PM:  Lunch (Participants bring own lunch)

    • Fun activity: Basketball trivia

​

  • 2:00-2:10 PM:  Water Break

​

  • 2:10-3:10 PM:  Competitive Drills

    • 1-on-1 Games: Improve individual offense and defense.

    • Shooting Competitions: Free throws, 3-pointers.

    • Dribbling Relays: Navigate through cones as fast as possible.

  • 3:10-3:20 PM:  Snack Break

  • 3:20-4:00 PM:  Guest Speaker / Educational Moment

    • Local high school coach or player

    • Discussion on leadership and teamwork

    • Q&A session

 

  • 4:00-4:45 PM:  Injury Prevention and Recovery Suite

    • Injury Prevention:

      • Stretching and Mobility: Focus on flexibility and preventing injuries.

      • Strengthening Exercises: Core stability and balance drills.

    • Recovery Suite:

      • Normatec 3 Recovery Session: Utilize Normatec compression therapy.

      • Foam Rolling: Self-myofascial release techniques.

  • 4:45-5:00 PM:  Reflection and Closing Remarks

    • Reflection on the day's activities and learnings

    • Feedback from participants

    • Preview of the next day's schedule

  • 5:00 PM: Dismissal and Parent Pick-up
